We were raised eating delicious and healthy food, and not only did we always have a garden full of veg and many fruit trees in every house we lived in but for several years we lived on a market gardening farm where we grew millions of different vegetables...or so it seemed at the time. When I was 8 years old I picked a beautiful red capsicum for my teacher and she thought that was sweet, so every day for a week I picked her one until she asked me if my parents knew what I was doing! Yes, apparently it was an expensive fruit. I was still allowed to pick something for her every now and then, just not every day. Formally, now as an adult, my nutrition studies include an Advanced Certificate in Nutritional Sciences, Diploma Level 5/6, from the Australiasian College of Natural Therapies, I have a Certificate in Nutrition, and a Certificate in Nutrition and Coaching from Precision Nutrition, and I hold an Ayurvedic Nutritionist Certification. I have studied various aspects of nutrition through other modalities such as during my Anthropology Major at the University of Auckland, Personal Training Certifications, Yoga Teacher Training in Mysuru, India, and online courses in TCM, just for fun. Being mindful is also very important nutrition education. Nutrition is more than just the food we eat and what we know. It is everything that we consume: what we see, hear, feel, smell, and taste.
